CANARY WHARF CABIN

INFORMAL

BRIEF //

The project was about being able to design a liveable dwelling given a 3x2m footprint no taller than 3m in height. In addition to this, the subject, or ‘client’ needed to have enough space to cater for a job or hobby of your choosing. Sites were allocated randomly.

CONCEPT //

The subject in this scenario was to be an ex-banker, identifying the gap in wealth  between Tower Hamlets as a whole and Canary wharf and trying to bridge that gap by spreading wealth, or at least the opportunity to create wealth, using the local DLR trains to do so. All designed to be a hidden pod resting above a public toilet, insvisible from the street, and situated perfectly for hearing whispers of trade secrets.

PROCESSES //

  • The ex-trader would dress in desguise to infiltrate local banking firms and steal trading/ investement ‘tips’. As well as cleverly installing listening devices in the public toilets below.

  • The trading tips would be then put onto tip sheets and loaded into a bespoke device which can be attached to the rear of a DLR train carriage.

  • The tip sheets are then shot out once the train arrives to the specific areas of Tower Hamlets, thus giving people the opportunity to make money should they take the risk.
