BRIEF //

The brief was created to address the relaxation of Cuba’s trade embargo under Obama’s regime. It’s a speculation of which allies may be the most useful if Cuba was to trade freely with Europe, and rediscovering ties it once held with Germany, and ties it currently holds with Hamburg, via the local football team St.Pauli FC. This projcet would be an architectural solution to revitalising an industrial stangnant area of Hamburg.

 

CONCEPT //

The idea was to find a way to pre-emptively facilitate the free movement of Cuban nationals into Europe, for tourism, trade, and work. Hamburg being a very left-wing city, and having a current connection with Cuba’s political powers would be the bridge between the two countries. This building gives Cuba a political base in Germany as well as provides a cultural exchange, education and promotes new international relations.

• Embassy building amenities: Security, Meeting Rooms, Panic Room, Offices.

• Cultural exchange: Outdoor Market, Upcycling Workshop, Restaurant, Tobbacco and Rum storage and trade area, Ampitheatre.
